Noise Assessment for Sports Facilities

Noise From Multi-Use Games Areas and Community Facilities
There is no specific guidance for Multi-Use Games Areas or Community Sports Facilities, which can often lead to complications at the planning stage.
On occasions requests may be made that the developer’s acoustic report be carried out using one assessment method beyond its intended scope, such as BS 4142.
This can result in over specifying any noise mitigation measures in order to meet inappropriate target levels, or even absolute noise levels.
To avoid such complications, we work with both the Local Authority and the Design Team, using a variety of assessment protocols and taking into account contextual factors and the existing noise climate, to provide a more reasonable and effective assessment of the site for the incorporation of a new noise source.

- We have experience of measuring noise from different sports activity types.
- We provide a measured assessment of noise, using a range of appropriate guidance.
- We examine the suitability of different sites for activities such as 5-a-side football, hockey, tennis and basketball.
